Tokiko Masuda Shegog

     Tokiko Masuda Shegog, affectionately known as “Toki” to her friends, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Saturday, May 7th; she was 89 years old.  She was born in Tokyo, Japan on May 19, 1926 to Hidigiro and Tome Masada.  Toki loved growing flowers, and feeding the fish in her pond.  She was an amazing cook, who always had the best recipe on hand, whether she was cooking American or Japanese styled food.  She was very community oriented, belonging to the Mothers Club of New Concord; often donating her time to doing presentations at the schools regarding cooking or making origami.  Toki cherished her family, and treasured her grandchildren.

            She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law (Martha Shegog), three brothers, 1 brother-in-law, four sisters-in-law, her nephew, Jack Shegog, and her husband of 48 years, George Shegog, Sr.  Tokiko is survived by her son, George (Sharon) Shegog, her son, Tim (Connie) Shegog, and her daughter, Loni Hunt.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved grandchildren including Travis (Sarah) Shegog, Levi (Jason) Shegog, Ryan (Rachel) Shegog, Eli (Kim) Shegog, and Matt and Brady Hunt; she will be deeply missed by her great-grandchildren, Wesley, Eleanor, Theodore, Isabella, and Samuel, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, including Andrew Shegog of Pittsburgh, PA.

            Friends and family are welcomed to attend Calling Hours for Toki on Tuesday, May 10th at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord from 4 to 7 PM, with a Memorial Service beginning promptly at 7PM following cremation per her wishes.  Burial of her ashes will be private and take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the New Concord Fire Dept., 3 S Layton Dr, New Concord, OH 43762
