Shirley Jean Elliott

March 4, 1941 ~ October 7, 2015 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Shirley Jean Elliott went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.  Shirley was born on March 4, 1941 in Gaysport, Ohio to the late Norman E. and Ida Osborn.  Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She loved cooking large meals for her family, sewing, drawing, writing poetry, flowers, quietly watching birds, and singing.  Her greatest joy was her children and her grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud.

 

Shirley loved the Lord and it was evident in the life that she lived and the love that she showed everyone.  She loved life and managed to find the good in all people.  Her gentle kindness and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  

 

Shirley had a profound love of country music and had her own band in the 1970s, Shirley Miller and The Ground Hog Boys.  Shirley once had the privilege of performing live on WWVA  Radio at the Capital City Music Hall in Wheeling, WVA.

 

Shirley is survived by her five children; Bill (Bonnie) Miller, of McConnelsville, Mike (Kim) Miller, Jeff (Missy) Miller, Angie Daniel, of Zanesville, and Mark Miller of the home.  Her grandchildren; Tyler (Kalie) Miller, Blaine (Jessica) Valentine, Melissa Hammer, Trudy (Ryan) King, Zach Miller, JC (Ashley) Fleming, Samantha Fleming, Joey Fleming, Amanda (Jared) Shreve, Amber (Daniel) Wallace, Alyssa (Eric) Perry, Ali Miller, Cauble (Sue) Daniel, Cody (Megan) Daniel, Conrad (Lindsy) Daniel, Keiara (Jake) West, Carrington Daniel, and 39 great grandchildren.  Shirley is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Jerry Osborn of Newark, Carol McCabe, Homer (Sally) Osborn, Sandy Osborn of Zanesville, Steve (Linda) Osborn, Karen (Howard Thomas) of Blue Rock, Vallarie Kelso of East Fultonham, sisters in laws Mary Ann Jerig and Patty Murray, several nieces, nephews, the Newton family, and her special companion, Toto.

 

In addition to her parents Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, Russell Osborn, a sister in law, Renee Osborn, brother in law, Bob McCabe, and a grandson, Michael Allen Miller, Jr.

 

Visitations will be from 1 to 5 pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held at 5 pm with Pastor Karen Osborn officiating.

 

Shirley was a constant reflection of God’s love and grace.  We will miss her with tears but remember her with laughter.  God bless you, Shirley
