Marilyn McKenzie,88, of Zanesville and formerly of Philo, passed away May 10, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Genesis Morrison House.

On June 29, 1927 Frederic Carlton Prouty and Alice (Grimley) Prouty welcomed their first child Marilyn, into the world.  She was joined by her sister, Constance to make the family complete.  The family made many happy memories and enjoyed camping and ice skating together.  Then along came Stanley Charles McKenzie who fell in love with Marilyn.  They vowed to love and cherish each other on July 25, 1949 and then he brought her back to his home in Philo.  A year later Jennie (Roger E.) Hendrix of Halifax, MA, was born and then came a son, Phillip Carlton (Pamela) McKenzie of Zanesville.  As the years passed along came her four granddaughters Holly Marie (Andrew) Cirignano, Laurie (Jason) Robado, Heather (Benjamin) Ickes and Christine McKenzie (Justin Wilson); her great grandchildren Riley, Amia, Sophia and Evan.  Marilyn is preceded in death by her sister Constance Grono who passed away in 1982.

Marilyn enjoyed many happy years with her husband and together they loved and cared for their family.  Sadly her husband Stanley passed away on June 17, 2006.  She continued to be an active part in her family’s life until succumbing to a short illness and leaving her family with many happy memories; and she will never be forgotten until we meet her again.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday with Rev. Karen Osborn officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
