Richard O. Doty

Richard O. Doty, 78 of Zanesville passed away on June 20, 2015 at home while under the care of Genesis Hospice.

Richard was born in Dilles Bottom, OH. on August 8, 1936 the son of the late Norman M and Mary (McCabe) Doty.  He worked for the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo for 27 years until its closing, he then worked for Economy Linen for 15 years until he retired.  He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan as well as an Ohio State Buckeyes Fan and Cleveland Browns fan.  He loved his trips to the beach and he also enjoyed woodworking and gardening and he service his country in the US Navy.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years Virginia Doty whom he married August 15, 1959; his children Randy (Christy) Doty of Zanesville, Keith Doty of Zanesville, Cheryl Sherfy Lazar of Nashport, Cassandra (Jason) Henning of Adamsville and Jennifer Doty of Zanesville; his grandchildren Brandi, Andrea, Keely, Kelsey, Jordan, Logan, Laykan, Jaylan, Austin and Aiden; his great Grandchildren Arriane, Kamdyn, Kade and Kingsley and his siblings Glen Doty, Gary (Cecelia) Doty, Brenda (Kenny) Lyons, Harold Doty, Joyce (Loren) Aldred, Karen (        ) Dennison, Norman ‘Jr’ (Paula) Doty and Patty Thomsen.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two children Richard L. Doty and Craig D. Doty and his siblings Betty Marinelli, Norma Smith, Robert Doty, Cindy Doty and Shirley Doty.

Visitations will be 4 to 6 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 6 pm with Rev. Roger Doty officiating.  Full military honors will be provided by the US Navy Color Guard and the George Selsam VFW Post #1058.
