C.J. Jim Saunders

C.J. “Jim” Saunders of Duncan Falls passed away quietly on July 19 at the age of 90.  He was born in northern Ohio in Homerville, the son of Clayton Bert Saunders and Amy Jones Saunders.  He attended Philo High School and the Kentucky Military Institute.  He graduated from the Ohio State University.  He joined the Navy and served as hospital corpsman assigned to the Marines in the South Pacific in World War II.  He married Sara Kathryn Carter in 1949.  He owned and operated the Wayne Manufacturing Company for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Penny S. Gibson, and a son Jonathan Kris Saunders.  He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Kathryn, son Clayton Tom Saunders (Rhonda) of Saint Simon’s Island, GA and son Dr. Karl C. Saunders (Barbara) of Zanesville; grandchildren include Kathryn “Katie” Saunders Goldsmith (Jeremy) of South Salem, NY; John Saunders (Evonne) of Zanesville, Jennifer and Ryan Saunders of Saint Simon’s Island and great grandson William Carter Saunders of Zanesville.

No calling hours will be observed and private funeral arrangements are being handled by the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.
