William “Bill” R. Nicholson passed away suddenly while in the care of Genesis Healthcare on Thursday, January 28th; he was 75 years old. He was born in Byesville, Ohio on July 3rd, 1940 to Roger and Idora Nicholson. Bill was a member of the New Concord United Methodist church, was a longtime member and former president of the Big Brothers Association, and belonged to the 200 club. He worked as a bus driver for 45 years, as well as teaching Driver’s Education courses; he enjoyed his morning coffee with the gang, had an extensive John Deer Collection, and was an avid John Glenn Sports Fan. He cheered and supported every family sporting event enthusiastically. He gave the gift of life as a donor.
He is predeceased by his parents, and a brother, James Nicholson, and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Nicholson. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Barbara (Jones) Nicholson, and his step-children including his step-daughter, Tammy (Dave) Rogers, step-daughter, Michele Browning, and step-son, Mike Mohler. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Matt, Makayla, Christin, and Lacey in addition to his nieces and nephews including Andrea, Kara, Traci, Jon-Erik, Tia, and a great-nephew, Case. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Garbonzo. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Calling hours from friends and family will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Sunday, January 31st from 2-4 and 6-8PM. An additional calling hour will take place at the New Concord United Methodist Church the following day, February 1st at 10AM, services will start at 11, and burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
