Wanda Watson Obituary

Wanda M. Watson, 81 of New Concord, passed away peacefully and was reunited with her husband, on September 9, 2021, while under the care of Genesis Hospice, and following a brief illness and her battle with Alzheimer’s.

Wanda was born in Norwich, Ohio, on November 18, 1939. She is the daughter of the late Dennis R. and Lillie M. (Lapp) Funk. She graduated from New Concord High School in 1957, and was employed at the Oxford Oil Company until she became full-time homemaker and farmer’s wife. Wanda married her high school sweetheart, Richard M. Watson, on September 9, 1959. They were married for 53 years until his death on October 18, 2012. Together they worked side by side on their family farm in Muskingum County. Wanda was a member of the East 40 Church of Christ, and a supporter of various agricultural organizations.

Wanda is survived by her children, Pamela (Kurt) Ufholz, Patsy (Mike) Schmuki, Mark (Carol) Watson, Michael (Barbara) Watson, and Matthew (Melissa) Watson; her thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Weldon (Janice) Funk and Wilma (Mike) Proctor; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Wanda is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Kitty Funk.

Visitations will be on September 13, 2021, from 11am to 1pm, at the East 40 Church of Christ, 7522 E Pike, Norwich, OH 43767, where funeral services will be held immediately following visitations at 1pm. Pastor Kenny Thomas will officiate the service. Wanda will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Paul Cemetery. The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is caring for the Watson family.
