Vanessa Leigh Bailey

Vanessa Leigh Bailey, 50 of Mount Perry, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 10, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio.

Vanessa was born in Presidio of San Francisco on August 5, 1971.  She is the daughter of LTC (retired) Ricky V. and Dana R. Wynkoop.  She was a 1989 graduate of Mount Clemens High School.  Vanessa was a Rotary Exchange student during her senior year of High School in Brazil; she previously attended Murray State University and University of Georgia.  She was a successful property manager in South Carolina prior to being the general manager for JoAnn Fabrics at the Colony Square Mall in Zanesville.  Vanessa was an Army brat who grew up in many cities all over the world, but had salt water in her blood and claimed Charleston, SC and Folly Beach as her home.  She was an animal lover who cared for many dogs and cats.

In addition to her parents, Vanessa is survived by her husband, Joseph Allan Bailey, whom she married on February 26, 1998; her niece and nephews whom she claimed as her own children, Amy, Carter, and Kooper; and her sister, Dana (Peter) March; her sister-in-law, Michelle Dunwoody who she considered her own sister; and her brother-in-law, Scott E. Bailey.

Vanessa is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wesley Beasley and Mary Moore Vaughan; and her paternal grandmother, Betty Iva Gaertner; and Joe’s parents, Larry and Margaret Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Vanessa’s name to the American Cancer Society.

In keeping with her wishes a caring cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.  The Farus Funeral Home is caring for the Bailey family.
