Raymond E. Bond, 86 of Zanesville, went to be with his heavenly father on June 12, 2021 at his home and while under the care of Genesis Hospice.
Ray was born on May 7, 1935, in West Virginia to the late Roy E. and Evelyn (Gilmore) Bond. He delivered flowers for Hill’s Roses for many years, and he then went on to own and operate his own flower shop, Bond Specialty. In his younger years he had a love of racecars and he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially mushrooming, gardening, deer hunting, grilling out and ginseng. He was a loving husband, and an amazing father and grandfather, and one heck of a cook. He was a lifetime member of George Selsam VFW Post 1058, American Legion Post 29, and the Zanesville F.O.E. and he served his country in the US Army.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Vivian (Casterline) Bond, whom he married on September 29, 1956. Ray is also survived by his children, Janella (Jeffrey Spencer) Bond, Evelyn (Mark) Cleveland, and J. Curtis Bond; his brother, Larry (Thelma) Bond; his granddaughter and her significant other, Charleen (Nathan Kirkbride) Bond-Wood, who took care of him at home; his other grandchildren, Kyryn (Andrea) Little, Charles and Natalee Boyer, Tasha and Jeffrey (Layne) Spencer, and Olivia, Alyssa, John, and Michael Bond; his several great-grandchildren; and many special friends.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his brother, Archie Bond; and his sisters, Sharon Stepleton, and Sue Ellison.
Visitations will be held from 12 to 2 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Pastor Aaron Bounds will officiate the service. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1058, American Legion Post 29, and the United States Army Color Guard.
