Ralph “Fred” Fredrick Newsom, 76 of Duncan Falls went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2023 at his home with his loved ones by his side. He was born December 2, 1946. He was married to Margaret (Peg) Newsom on May 6, 2001.
Fred graduated from Philo High School and then served in the US Navy for 4 ½ years. He was a licensed plumber and electrician and worked in construction for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29. He also attended Shelterhouse Assembly of God Church in Gaysport.
Fred is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Jessica) Newsom of Minnesota and Eric (Jennifer) Newsom of Westerville and one daughter, Tennille (Matt) Fleming of Zanesville. Three stepsons, William (Jennifer) Wilkins of Zanesville, Davin (Amy) Wilkins of Chandlersville, and Andrew (Sarah) Wilkins of Philo and one stepdaughter, Wendi (Eric) Kennison of Chandlersville. Fred has 9 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and one great grandchild due in August. Fred has three sisters and one brother; Marlene Kramer of Zanesville, Ruth Ann Clements of Zanesville, Georgianna (John) Trescott of Adamsville, and Randy (Theresa) Newsom of Zanesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Emerson and Pauline (Bryce) Newsom, two brothers, Thomas and Richard Newsom, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Newsom.
The family would also like to thank Shriver’s Hospice for their care and a special thanks to Fred’s nurse, Courtney Huhn for always taking such great care of him.
Visitations will be 11 to 1 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral services will be 1 pm on Tuesday, Pastor Joe Rowland will officiate the service. Fred will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Malconta Post #24 McConnelsville and the US Navy Color Guard.
