Norma Jean Sims-Addis, 94 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Clay Gardens Place with her loving family by her side.
Norma Jean was born on April 6, 1930, in White Cottage, Ohio to the late Paul and Florence (Houk) Nutter. She and her husband, George, owned and operated Sims Fruit Farm. She also worked in sales at the Longaberger Homestead. Norma Jean was a member of the Sweet Adelines, and she was a faithful member of the Immanuel Church of Downtown Zanesville. Norma Jean loved listening to music and singing. In 2007, Norma Jean went before the Ohio Senate Committee and urged her support to save unemployment benefits affected by Social Security payments. With her testimony, Ohio passed the Senate Bill 116.
Norma Jean is survived by her daughter, Sue Hildebrand; her step-sons, David (Carol) Addis and Doug (Kris) Addis; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Darrin) Hayes, William (Sarah) Metcalf, Julie Metcalf, Angela (Mark) McDermont, and James Anthony (Elayna) Rose; her several great-grandchildren; her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild and one more on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Norma Jean is preceded in death by her first husband, George Sims Jr., who passed away in 1988; her second husband, Bill Addis, who passed away in 1997; her daughter, Karla Metcalf, who passed away on February 20, 2018; her son-in-law, Rick Hildebrand, who passed away on December 5, 2021; her siblings, Paul Nutter Jr., Ronald Nutter, Donald Nutter, Freda Smith, and Orleatta Scott.
Visitations for Norma Jean will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Jason Boggs will officiate the service. Norma Jean will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery in Roseville.
