Nancy R. Mitchell Obituary

Nancy Ruth Mitchell, 64 of Zanesville, formerly of Owasso, OK, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2020, after a brief battle with stage 4 metastatic gallbladder cancer.

Nancy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May, 27 1956 to the late E. Robert and Betty (Metzgr) Reed, Jr. She will always be remembered by her family as the cute little 4-year-old with the top knot and no front teeth whom they referred to as pipe stem legs.

Nancy graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1974. She went on to work at Lowrance Electronics, where she met the love of her life, Kim Alan Mitchell, whom she married on March, 5 1976. They were pranksters in crime for sure, when Nancy was pregnant, he would overhead page “Chubet Mitchell” whenever he got the chance while at work. After Kim accidentally made her lose her job at Lowrance Electronics, she went on to work for Dollar General then Target where she left in 2016 to move to Zanesville, OH to be near her son and granddaughter.  Her son, Alan, whom carried on with the pranks of his parents even at a very young age. Around the age of 4, while Nancy was preparing for a party, he hid himself under the microwave cart. As Nancy completed some deviled eggs and would go to make more, he would sneak out and take a few, this went on a couple of times until Nancy decided to step back and watch the deviled eggs, at which time he was caught stealing them.

Nancy was known for her great sense of humor; infectious smile and her extremely caring and giving heart. She loved to cross stitch, crochet, read and spend time with her family and friends. Nancy was also very well known for her love of cooking, especially for her famous cranberry nut bread and homemade salsa.

Nancy is survived by her son Alan (Candace) Mitchell, granddaughter Ryliegh Mitchell, sister Carol Weers, brother Jimmy Reed, sister Jayne Reeves, and nephew Alex (Cindy) Thorpe.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kim Mitchell; brother Bobby Reed and sisters Christine Hoffman and Cathy Thorpe.

In honor of Nancy’s wishes, a cremation will take place. There will be no funeral services but there will be a celebration of life announced at a later time.
