Michael S. “Skinny” Gainer, 46, passed away on March 1, 2021 at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus following a 6 month battle with liver and kidney failure.
Skinny was born in Zanesville on May 13, 1974. He is the son of Donald W. and Linda K. (Stuart) Gainer of Zanesville. He was a 1992 graduate of Maysville High School, and a 1997 graduate of West Liberty College with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. When he found out he was going to be a father, he decided to become a “domestic engineer”, stay at home dad. He enjoyed golfing but most especially he loved being a dad!
Skinny is survived by his wife, Deana (Bay) Gainer, whom he married December 6, 2001; his three children, Nathan, Kaylee and Griffin; his two sisters, Aimee (Howard) Twiggs and Jenny (Gary) Frey; his nieces, Sarah Twiggs, Michele (Dalton) Kirkbride, Lauren Williams, and Alivia Bay; his aunt, Becky Stuart; his mother-in-law, Paula (Richard) Gibson; his father-in-law, Joe (Jane Lorenz) Bay and too many friends to list.
Skinny is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ken and Sylvia Stuart; his paternal grandparents, Webb and Edith Gainer; his uncle, Gary Stuart.

Visitations will be held 5 to 7 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. The family will hold a private funeral service for the immediate family at 7:30 pm.
