Michael Wayne McIntire

Michael W. McIntire, 74 of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2022.

He is the son of Shirley Joanne (Drake) and the late Clyde McIntire.

Mike was a graduate of Philo High School. He began his early years playing college football before proudly serving in the United States Army. After returning home, he continued with strength and courage while fighting his longest battle for his health, but he did it well, always keeping his “chin up” as he encouraged family to do the same. He worked at the Ohio Power Plant, the Ohio Ferro Alloy, and AK Steel as a millwright.

Mike was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a warm heart, spending time with family and helping others as much as he could. He loved classic cars, motorcycles and working on both, Native American ancestry, and taking scenic road trips. He was clever and witty. He enjoyed making jokes and keeping you on your toes. He often shared stories of his younger days and his time in service.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Enczi); his dear mother, Joanne (Drake); his children, Kambria (Greg), Erin (Jamie), Shaunte, Timera, Michelle (Scott), and Jannelle (Paul); his grandchildren, Tasha, Austin, Hunter, Brennigan, Parker, Connor, Christian, Oasis, Aurora, and Atlantis; his two great-grandsons, Weston and Wyatt; his brothers, Steven (Sandy) and Gary (Connie); and his nephews, Shawn (Marnie), Matthew, and Nathan.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clyde.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in his name to either, the American Heart Association, the Muskingum County Animal Shelter, or to the charity of your choice.  

A memorial gathering will be held from 12 to 1 PM on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A memorial service will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Jon Exman officiating. Full military honors will be provided by George Selsam Post #1058, American Legion Post #29, and the United States Army Color Guard.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.
