Mary L. Pletcher, 75 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at The Oaks at Bethesda on Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on October 31, 1947, in Blue Rock, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Earl and Lula Leota (Young) Smithley. Mary worked at Adams Lane Care Center for twenty years before retiring to take care of her beloved husband, James. She loved playing Bingo with her family, and going to Dresden with her sister, Virginia. She adored spending time with her cats, Sopha and Spirit. Mary cherished her role as a mother and loved her children and grandchildren deeply.
Mary is survived by her children, Jimmy (Brenda) Pletcher Jr., Elisa (Kevin) Caldwell, Marla Kay (Billy Ray) Cole, all of Zanesville; her many grandchildren; her many great-grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Millward; her several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as a special friend, Lori Harris.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, James Pletcher Sr., who passed away on March 13, 2012; as well as her siblings, Sheila Mae Stotts, Earl “Tony” Smithley, Sharon Smithley, and Cindy McMillen.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Oaks At Bethesda and The Hospice of Central Ohio, especially Erin, for all of their love and care towards Mary.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place.
