Louis Dean Rupe, 74 of Roseville, passed away on September 15, 2022 at Genesis Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by his family and friends.
Louis was born in Athens County on June 22, 1948. He is the son of the late Andrew and Erma (Cullison) Rupe. He worked for several years for the Ohio Ferro Alloy and he retired from Sidwell Brothers. He was a member of the American Legion, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and he was an outstanding softball player who was chosen for second string for the All World Team in 1980. He was known as the rock of his family and his pride and joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Brussels, Belgium.
Louis is survived by his childhood sweetheart who became his wife on June 27, 1970, Charlene (Bargar) Rupe;
his two daughters, Kelly (Paul) Newman of Roseville and Julee Rupe of Roseville; his grandchildren, Andrea “Andy” (Trevor) McConnell, Ashton (Chloe Lykins) Newman, Codie (Shawntay Wisecarver) Thomas, Carson (Taylor Dale) Rupe, and Callee Rupe; his five great grandchildren, Daniel Wisecarver, Addison McConnell, Dawson Thomas, Aryia “Rosebud” McConnell, and Naomi “Nana” Marie; his brother, Melvin Rupe, Leroy Cullison, his sister, Dorothy Bargar; and his special friend and neighbor, Greg Starcher.
In addition to his parents, Louis is preceded in death by his siblings, John Rupe, Joyce Rupe and Mary Starcher.
Visitations will be 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday. Pastor Steve Harrop will officiate the service. He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by U.S. Army Color Guard and the George Selsam VFW Post 1058.
