Larry J. Morgan Obituary

Larry Joe Morgan, Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, with a calling hour at 10 a.m., at the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church, 296 Main Street, Duncan Falls, Ohio for Larry Joe Morgan, 82, of Ellerman Road, Zanesville, who went home with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from a prayer circle at Genesis Hospice, Morrison House.  The Rev. Karen Osborn will officiate the service.  Larry will receive full military honors from the George Selsam VFW Post #1058 and the Zanesville American Legion Post #29.

Larry was born Friday, January 13, 1939 in Kermit, West Virginia. He is the son of the late John Stephen and Olga Edith (Maynard) Morgan. When he was a toddler, he moved with his family to Philo and attended all 12 years of school in one building and graduated in 1957 from PHS.  After graduation, he spent 4 years in the United States Navy (He loved his country, and the FLAG), got a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Ohio University, began his teaching career (his passion) and then became a principal in the Zanesville School System.

After retirement, he became a substitute teacher at Zane Trace School District in Guernsey County and later in the Franklin Local School District. Larry made the comment that he would teach for free, but it was nice being paid. He dearly loved children.

Larry was preceded into eternity by his beloved mamaw, Isabella Roach, whom he talked of with great pride and love; his highly-intelligent siblings, Stephen Dale Morgan, and Dawna Gayle Morgan Porter; his dancing instructor and lively sister, Carol Sue Morgan Krinach, and his devilish little brother, Robert Darrell Morgan.

He leaves behind his widow, Laura Belle “Bellsie” Humphrey Pulley Morgan; his wonderful step-children, Christie Linn Pulley (Matthew) McGee, and Vance Robert (Kimberly Raymond) Pulley; and according to Larry, “HIS GRANDCHILDREN”, his most precious gems, Trey Robert Pulley, Vance Damon Pulley, Madison Rae McGee, Robert Dane McGee, Kinley Jo Pulley, and Addilyn Marie Pulley.

He also leaves his sister, Deidre Ann Morgan Myers, who he loved to tease unmercifully; a sister-in-law, Sandra Sue May Morgan; and brother-in-law, Murl Rodney (Kathy) Humphrey; his best friend, Tim Schenkel, who he loves as a brother, and many other family and friends.

Thank you to everyone who ever came in contact with Larry from the time of his birth until the time of his departure, because each and every one of you helped to mold his character, and his love of life. Thank you.
