John Ribble Obituary

John Edward Ribble, 85 of Blue Rock, rode his tractor to paradise on Sunday April 10, 2022.  He passed away on his farm under the loving care of his wife, daughters and Genesis Hospice.

John was born on September 13, 1936 in Zanesville, Ohio.  At age two he left Blue Rock with his mother and sister to live in Beckley, West Virginia.  He returned and was lovingly welcomed on his paternal grandparent’s farm where his brother was already being raised.  He spent the rest of his life letting us know how much Ed and Alta Ribble meant to him and how grateful he was.  Dad said he would never leave that farm until the day he died.  He got his wish.

John was a master mechanic and carpenter.  He retired from Miba (Clevite) after 39 years in McConnelsville.  Toiling his soil, planting an impressive garden big enough to feed all of Gaysport, and giving it away was one of his many passions.  He loved fishing tinkering and a good card game.

He thought of his in-law’s as his parents and their daughters as his sisters, except for the one he married.  Trenda Sue Kennel was the love of his life for 62 years.  Their bond was legendary.

John is survived by his loving wife, Trenda Sue (Kennel) Ribble, who he married on November 29, 1959; his daughters, Angela K. Houle and Debra A. (Jack Jr.) Clontz; his two grandchildren, Ethan (Elizabeth) Clontz and Avery Clontz, his mother-in-law, Ruth Kennel; his sister-in-law, Martha Ribble; brothers-in-law, Nelson Sitton, Ed Bowers, and Tim Woodward; his half-brother, Robert Karnes; his six sisters-in-law, Sandy Rosenberger, Ginger Williams, Pam White, Sara Bowers, Sally Woodruff, and Rebecca Woodward; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

He also had a special bond with Tori Alexander, Howard Mills, Denny Coen, Phillip Tuller, and Aaron Artis.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Emma (Lilly) Ribble; his grandparents, Edward and Alta (Eppley) Ribble; his siblings, Glenn Ribble and Carolyn “Sue” Sitton; and his father-in-law, Edwin Kennel.
