Jerry L. Moore Sr., 83, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at 8:21AM on September 21, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family, and while under the care of Shriver’s Hospice.
Jerry was born on June 28, 1938 in Nashport, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Alice (Bay) Moore. He was a 1957 graduate of Cumberland High School, and he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. On August 5, 1961 he married the love of his life, Janice (Dudley) Moore. Jerry retired from Sidwell Brothers in 1995, and then went back to work for Brad Goff Trucking, where he retired in 1997. He held a Mine Foreman’s License for the state of Ohio. Jerry loved going to and spending time at carshows, but most especially, he enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Dudley) Moore, of 60 years; his children, Jerry L. Moore Jr., and Jeni Brown; his grandchildren, Derrick Treadway, Danielle Lafferty, James S. Moore II (Livi), Shelby Brown, Joesy Moore, John Brown; his special Army buddy, Basil Floyd; and his faithful dog, Lucy.
In addition to his parents and his step-father, Marshall Wickham, Jerry is preceded in death by his son, James S. Moore I; and his special friend, Bill Williams.
The family would like to extend a special, and heartfelt, Thank You to the staff at Shriver’s hospice for the care they provided to Jerry, especially Shane, Erica, and Sheila.

In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place and no services will be held at this time. The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Moore family.
