Jack D. Rothe, 84 of Columbus, passed away doing what he loved on July 12, 2021 at the Beckett House in New Concord, with his remote control watching Major League Baseball highlights.
Jack was born in Columbus on July 14, 1936. He is the son of the late Bernard R. and Marie Rothe. Jack was an avid sports fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and whatever team was in first place in basketball (he was a front runner). He was a tremendous athlete for his alma mater Linden McKinley where he graduated in 1954. He really enjoyed having a "Good Time" and he will missed by so many people he met. His words of wisdom and encouragement meant a lot to so many.
Jack is survived by his loving partner, JoAnn Rothe; his children, Cherie Yvonne (Mark) Lappen, Darrell Lee (Deana) Whaley, Elwood Arthur Whaley, Suzanne Dee (Johnnie) Harvey, Mary Yvette (Kevin) Wheeler, Jack Rothe Jr., Kimberly Jo (Bob) Hayes and Jeffrey Scott Rothe; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Bernard (Donna) Rothe; and his lifelong friend, Irvis Macy.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Suzanne and his loving grandparents who raised him, George and Nellie Rothe.
In keeping with his wishes his body will be cremated and no services will be held at this time. The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is caring for the Rothe family.
