Gerald “Sparky” E. Murtha, 84 of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Embassy of Cambridge surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was born on March 5, 1939 in Warsaw, New York. He is the son of the late Kenneth and Mary (Sauer) Murtha. Gerald was a self proclaimed "Jack of all trades and a Master of None" and the proud owner and operator of G.E.M. Trucking for thirty years. He was a member of the Cambridge Bible Church.
Gerald is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Pamela S. Murtha; his children, Susan (William) Tickhill, Scot E. Murtha, Shala Harmon, and Shawndy Murtha (Michael Thabet) ; his seven grandchildren; his seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack Murtha; his sisters, Jean (Walt) Vincent, Mary Weber, Marjorie Parmeter, Kathy Murtha, and Madeline Beach (Ang Lamintina)
In addition to his parents, Gerald is preceded in death by his son, Gerald E. Murtha Jr., who passed away on March 25, 2017; as well as his brothers, Kenny, Danny, and Robert Murtha; and his sisters, Monica Sikes and Maurine Waterrose.
Visitations will be from 11 to 1 PM on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 West Main Street, New Concord, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Pastor Dave Saxton will officiate the service. Gerald will be laid to rest in Guernsey County Memory Gardens.
