Gary E. Golden, 63, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.
Gary was born on Elmira, NY. He is the son of the late Robert and Irene (Horton) Golden. He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees super fan. He graduated from Horseheads High School in 1976. He graduated from Ithaca College in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and then received his MBA from Southern Illinois University. He worked for over 22 years at Muskingum University as an Associate Professor of Business; Department Chair of the EAB department, and Advisor for Ignition Program. He is the co-advisor and Treasurer of the Phi Kappa Phi fraternity and Honor Society; also he was a Brother and co-advisor for Phi Kappa Psi fraternity along with his best friend, Brian King. He started the Business Club, Chase Program, and the Ignition Program. He was also co-advisor for the Kratoville Innovation Fellows Program.
Gary once said, “My favorite thing about Muskingum is the students that make me feel young, help me to stay connected, and feel fulfilled. I like to learn as much from my students as they learn from me.”
Gary is survived by his wife, Paula (Matyi) Golden, whom he married July 12, 2003; his daughter, Amy (Frank) Tuscano; his sister, Laurie (Dave) Gee; several nieces and nephews and his dog, Luv E.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister, Pam Golden.
Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 West Main Street, New Concord, Ohio. A celebration of his life will take place at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Brown Chapel at Muskingum University with Rev. Daniel Golden officiating.
