Dr. John Walker Steinberger M.D. 76 of New Concord, passed away at his home on April 2, 2022.
John was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 4, 1945. He is the son of the late Paul Joseph Steinberger and Frances (Davidson) Smallwood.
John retired in 1999 from Genesis Hospital where he worked as a Radiologist for over 23 years with Radiologist Associates for both Bethesda and Good Samaritan Hospitals. Prior to working in Zanesville, he served his country in the US Army where he was a medical doctor. John had many hobbies and enjoyed being active on his farm. He often played the acoustic guitar with his harmonica, sang folk songs, and enjoyed wood working. He loved to build things and had a great sense of adventure. After he retired, he built his own boat, and two airplanes which he enjoyed flying. He even gave being an amateur race car driver a whirl. His down time was spent with his closest companions, his rescue dogs.
John is survived by his daughter, Emily Steinberger; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Paul (Dr. Carissa San Juan) Steinberger; his brother, David Steinberger and his sister, Julie Wentsler.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Elvira Steinberger.
In keeping with his wishes, a caring cremation will take place. Then, later this month, a private memorial service will take place at the family home. The Farus Funeral Home of New Concord is caring for the Steinberger family.
