Charles A. McLean Obituary

Charles A. McLean, 88 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on November 16, 2021.

 

Charlie was born June 11, 1933 in Zanesville.  He is the son of the late Charles A. and Blanche D. (Oliver) McLean.  In his younger years he worked road construction, until becoming an owner / operator truck driver for over 33 years.  After retirement he enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife Dot in his RV, planting a garden and harvesting his special tomatoes, and not to exclude his flower garden and nurturing his special roses.  Most especially he loved spending time with his family and his boxer, Sammy.  He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1955.

 

Charlie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy L. (Clapper) McLean, whom he married June 22, 1957; his children, Martin (Sue) McLean, Kim Schwartz, Tammy (Rick) Bowers, Daniel McLean; his grandchildren, Rachel (Kris) Melone, Kyle (Yazmin) Little, Marshall (Nina) McLean, Tyler Little, Melinda Bowers, Ricky Bowers; great grandchildren, Caed Melone, Charlie Day McLean, Riley Melone, twins, Tristin and Samuel Little, and Wren McLean; and a special nurse, his great-niece, caregiver and best friend, Jennifer Girton-Richards.

 

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his two brothers, Warren and Gerald McLean; and a son-in-law Thomas Schwartz.

 

Visitations will be held 4 to 7 pm on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday at the Westwood Baptist Church, 2395 E. Pike, Zanesville, Ohio.  Pastor Mark Ballmer will officiate the service.  He will be laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post# 1058, American Legion Post #29 and the US Army Color Guard.
