Charles Donahue Obituary

Charles Joseph Donahue, 84, of New Lexington, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 9, 2021, with his family by his side.

Joe was born on February 26, 1937 in Lilly, Pa. He is the son of the late Joseph R. and Beatrice M. (Behe) Donohue. He was a carpenter by trade and a worked as a roofing inspector for six years. He was a Korean War Veteran, a member of the American Legion #376 in Junction City and he served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Joe is survived by his wife, Ada “Cookie” (Deahl) Donahue, whom he married September 13, 1969; his children, Joseph Donohue of Winter Springs, FL., Benjamin (Pam) Donohue of Cape Coral, FL., Shane (Audrey) Mitchel of Nelsonville, Charles (Shelley) Donahue of Junction City, and Maryjo (Wayne) Ronk of New Lexington;  his grandchildren Kelly Donohue, Shauna Donohue, Michael Mitchell, T.J. (Brenda) Thompson, Riley Donahue, Regan Donahue, Wayne (Jensen) Tolene, and Joanna Ronk; his three great grandchildren, Lynnliegh Ronk, Julian Donohue, and Parker Thompson; his sister, Mary (Gary) McCloskey of Gallitzin, PA, his brother, Tom Donohue of Northern Cambria, PA. his many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law’s and sisters-in-law’s.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by brothers, Paul, James and David Hill; his sisters, Ruth Dieke and Linda Hill; two grandchildren, Kristen Donahue and Timothy Donahue.

A Prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday with Father Yakkel as celebrant.

Visitations will be 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.  Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm Friday with Deacon Ed Christ.  Joe will be laid to rest in the New Lexington Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the John Tague American Legion Post #188, New Lexington and the US Navy Color Guard.  The Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is caring for the Donahue family.
