Charlene Mae Rowland

Charlene Mae Rowland, age 94 , passed away in her sleep on February 1, 2021 at Countryview Assisted Living in Lore City, OH, where she lived near her oldest daughter.

Charlene was born at home in Rosewood, Ohio on December 17, 1926.  She is the daughter of the late Charles and Flossie (Russell) Ford.  She was in the Cadet Nursing Program at Springfield Community Hospital preparing for World War II, but the war ended before she could serve. She worked as an RN at Harding Hospital in Worthington, OH for many years.  She and her husband lived in both Titusville, FL and Melbourne, FL for 24 years after their children left home. In retirement, the couple came to live with their oldest daughter for 10 years where Charlene served as a volunteer at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Charlene was also a member of the D.A.R. of Zanesville, OH.

Charlene is survived by her sister, JoAnn Swonger of Urbana, OH; Kathleen (Mike) Seiler of Zanesville, OH, John C. Rowland of Malden Bridge, NY and Anita Leake of Bainbridge Island, WA.; grandchildren: Michael, Peter, Matthew, and Melissa Seiler, Stuart (Stephanie) Rowland, Clare (James) Dixon, Jake Rowland and Justine Leake; her great-grandchildren: Jordanna Seiler, Jude and Tessa Seiler, Xander and Ripley Rowland, and Shepard Dixon.

Besides her parents, Charlene is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Rowland, who passed away on August 11, 2007. 

In keeping with Charlene’s wishes, a caring cremation will take place with a memorial service held at a later date. The Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls, OH will be caring for the Rowland / Seiler family.
