Cathy M. Crumbaker

Our Dear Mother, Cathy Marie Crumbaker of Zanesville, sadly passed away on January 20, 2023 at the age of 67, surrounded by family.  We would like to extend our gratitude to the team at Shriver’s Hospice for the comfort and care given in her final days.

Cathy will be remembered by many in the community for her years of service as a nurse.  A career that was driven by caring for her own mother who was terminally ill when Cathy was a teenager.  She started her career as a candy striper at Good Samaritan Hospital and gradually worked her way up to a Registered Nurse, and later, a head charge nurse at Select Speciality Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Cathy ended her employment history as a sales representative for Knowlton Industrial Steel Supply.

Cathy is survived by her children, Stephanie Knowlton, Steven Crumbaker Jr; her grandchildren, Aliyah Knowlton, Brayden Knowlton, Sophia Waspe, Destaine Crumbaker, Angelina Crumbaker, Steven Crumbaker III; her great grandson, Preston Miller Jr.; her brother, Wayne Paul (Becky) Hughes; her nephew, Daniel (Erica) Hughes and her niece, Becky Clawson.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne P. and Gertrude M. Hughes. 

While Cathy had a passion for flowers and gardening, she also had a special place in her heart for cats and cared for many as her own over the years along with placing shelter and food outside for strays.  We are asking in lieu of flowers, donations of money or time volunteering to PAWS of Muskingum County, PO Box 2364 Zanesville, Ohio 43702-2364 or Venmo: @PAWS-Muskingum.

Visitations will be held noon to 1 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 W. Main Street, New Concord, Ohio 43762.  A celebration of her life will be held at 1 pm at the funeral home.  Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service.  She will be laid to rest in New Hope Cemetery.
