New Concord ---- Wilma E. Hardesty passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, June 24th at the Beckett House in Union Township near New Concord, Ohio. She was 88 years old. She was born July 7th, 1925 in New Concord to William and Edna Rice. Wilmaloved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting , fishing, and simply spending time among the trees. One of her favorite activities was picking berries, which often led to another favorite pastime of hers, which was baking and eating pies. She gave away far more than she ever ate, and her speciality was raspberry pie. She worked for a number of years at the National Cash Register. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hardesty, her parents, her brothers, Harold (Nan) Rice, George (Helga) Rice, Russell (Dorothy) Rice, Bill (Lois) Rice, and Lawrence (Louella) Rice; and her sisters, Helen (Don) Amspoker, and Rachel (Jim) Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Louise (Ed) Satcher, and her very special caretaker of the last 5 years, Pat McQuain, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A gathering for Wilma will be held at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord (Formerly Mock Miller Funeral Home) on Thursday, June 26th from 10AM to 1PM, with services starting promptly at 1PM. Burial will take place at the New ConcordCemetery in New Concord. Pastor Mark Ballmer, of the Westwood Baptist Church will be officiating.
