Walter R. Sutton, 100 of Blue Rock, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on April 22, 2025.
Walter was born on December 7, 1924, in South Zanesville, to the late David H. and Maude (Drake) Sutton. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army before working as a truck driver for various companies for many years until retirement. He was also a lifetime area farmer, who loved working on his farm, and was a part of the American Angus Association.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Eloise (Roberts) Sutton, whom he married on October 9, 1952; his two sons, Dave (Lynda) Sutton and Don (Debbie) Sutton; his five grandchildren, Nicole (Aaron) Lee, Alyson (Shane) Centers, Amanda (Chris) Hillyer, James (Carrie) Jones, and Aaron (Peggy) Anderson; his several great-grandchildren; his many great-great grandchildren; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his sister, Edna Ellis; his step-daughter, Sharon (Ferrel) Anderson; as well as his granddaughter, Amy Ross.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Walter’s caregivers, Tiffany McFee, Jen Woodring, Amanda Penrod, and Amanda May, for their exceptional care and kindness that they showed Walter.
Visitations for Walter will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM following visitations at the funeral home. Pastor Darren Tolbert will officiate the service. Walter will be laid to rest at Ark Spring Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the United States Army and George Selsam VFW Post #1058.
