Virgil W. Gibson

Virgil W. “Gibby” Gibson, 86 of New Concord, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 7, 2021 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House.

Virgil was born on March 10, 1935 in St. Clairsville, Ohio.  He is the son of the late John and Effie (Knicely) Gibson.  He worked for the Central Ohio Coal Company as a Blaster.  He was a member of Cambridge Eagles #386 and he served his country in the US Army.

Virgil is survived by his wife Carol Conrad Gibson; his son, Chad (Julie) Gibson; his daughter, Kimberly Gibson; his step-children that he thought of as his own children, Lisa Conrad, Theresa (Terry) Moore, and Sandra “Sandy” Holmes; his grandchildren, Kendra Tullius, Keela Davis, Landon Gibson, Greg Stiers, Nevaeh Holmes, and Tiara Moore; and eight great grandchildren; his special friend and neighbor, Pete Denny and his McDonald Breakfast Buddies.

In addition to his parents, Virgil is preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters.

Visitations will be 6 to 8 pm on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord.  He will be laid to rest in the Norwich Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Full Military Honors will be provided by The Guernsey County Veterans Counsel.
