Vera Jean Dutro, 77 of Zanesville passed away at 1:30 am, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Genesis Hospice, Morrison House. Vera was born August 24, 1936 in Morgan County the daughter of the late Clifford and Edith (Phyllis) McFerren. She graduated from Bethesda School of Nursing in 1957, following her graduation she worked as a nurse for Bethesda Hospital until 1976 when she took the position of Clinical Director of Oncology Services at Bethesda Hospital. She worked for the hospital as Cancer Research consultant and served as the co-chair of the Cancer Concern Coalition. She volunteered for numerous years with the American Cancer Society and she was the recipient of the Josephine Phillips Health Care Award. She received her bachelors of health administration from College of Mount St Joseph in Cincinnati in 1993 and most recently worked for Rambo Memorial Health. Vera is survived by her husband Clyde Dutro whom she married May 12, 1957; her children Jeff (Mary Ann) Dutro of Zanesville, Mike Dutro of Duncan Falls, Joe Dutro of Zanesville and Marc (Susan) Dutro of Hilliard; her six grandchildren Andrea Easly, Matt Dutro, Ashley Dutro, Wesley Dutro, Brady Dutro and Genevieve Dutro; two great grandchildren Hunter Dutro and Joseph Easly and her sister Phyllis (Ronald) Butler of Duncan Falls. Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday with Rev. Karen Osborn officiating.
