Velma O. Slasor Ford was called Home peacefully on Monday, November 3rd while in the care of the Countryview Assisted Living Home. She was 86 years. Velma was born on July 11th, 1928 in Old Washington to the Late Ernest and Pearl Slasor. She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cambridge, a member of the Eastern Stars (Laura Chapter), and belonged to the VFW Women’s Auxillary. Velma was a loving mother and wife, whose primary concern was caring for her home and her family.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her loving husband of 62 years, Harold L. Ford whom she married Nov. 30th, 1945. She is survived by her children, including Pattie (Lyman) Seybold, Tommy (Toni) Ford, and Nancy (John) McIntire. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Samuel (Sally) Seybold, Kristina (Michael) Marotta, Connie (Jeff) Johnson, Tommy (Paula) Ford, James “Aaron” (Erin) McIntire, Joshua McIntire, Lindsay McIntire, Hannah McIntire, and Kara McIntire. She will be lovingly remembered by her 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family as well.
A gathering for friends and family will be held on Thursday, November 6th from 6 to 8pm at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November, 7th promptly at 11am, with friends welcome to start arriving at 10:30am. Burial will take place at Northside Cemetery in Cambridge. The family would like to express their gratitude for the outstand care that Velma received from the Countryview Assisted Living Home, and the Guernsey County Hospice. They request that in lieu of flowers that donations are made to the Countryview Assisted Living, 62825 Country Home Road, Lore City, Ohio 43755 or the Guernsey County Hospice, 9711 East Pike Road, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
