Troy A. Erwin

Troy Erwin, 54 of Philo passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus as the result of a stroke he suffered while running his equipment.

Troy was born in Zanesville on October 2, 1969.  He is the son of James A. and Linda L. (Shipley) Erwin.  He was the owner and operator of Erwin Excavating.  He was a member of Operators Engineers Local Union #18 and worked many years on the pipeline.  Troy dedicated his life to working as a heavy equipment operator, he was known to be an honest and hardworking man who took pride in being a provider for those in his life. When not working he consumed his time with his three children and two grandkids; to know him, you know they were his whole world.

His kids and grandkids favorite memories are him teaching them how to operate equipment, riding in the semi, spending time riding ATV’s, countless adventures, singing and dancing, playing cards, shooting pool, and always making them feel so loved!

Troy is survived by his three children, Claudia Erwin, Chloe (Caleb Sterling) Erwin and Luke (Cassie Snack) Swingle; his grandchildren, Cornell and Caliana Lynum; his siblings, Jim (Tracy) Erwin Jr, Melissa (Chuck) Weaver, Mark (Treasa) Erwin, and Eric (Angie) Erwin; several nieces and nephews, as well as many relatives and a community of friends.

Troy is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sheldon and Dorothy Shipley; his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Martha Erwin; and his previous father-in-law, Gary Wells.

Visitations will be 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church, 4509 Salt Creek Drive, Duncan Falls, Ohio 43734.  Funeral services will follow visitations at 2PM.  Pastor Steve Harrop will officiate the service.  Troy will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
