Shirley M. Smith

Shirley M. Smith, 77, of Philo passed away peacefully on September 20, 2016 while under the care of Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
Shirley was born on December 13, 1938 in Coshocton, OH. She previously worked as a bartender for various establishments in the Zanesville area including Town House, East End Café and The 77 Club. She is a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1058 and she was an avid reader and bird watcher and she loved spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband Gene Smith whom she married September 21, 1976; her children Theresa “Trudy” (Denny) Meiser of Coshocton, Gidget (Brian) Cottrell of Dresden, her step-daughter Paula Smith of Zanesville; her grandchildren Justin (Leanne) Meiser, Ian Meiser, Alyssa (Ethan) Bay, Corey (Marie) Cottrell, Katie Smith and Jennifer (Paul) Thomas and four great-grandchildren, Tayler, Fayth, Quinn and Lucas and three nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother and step-father Margaret Mae (Sam) Dile; her siblings Sonny Jennings, James Jennings, Charles Jennings.
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am with Minister Brian Keith Cottrell officiating. In keeping with her wishes a caring cremation will take place after the services.
