Shirley K. Rhinehart, 83 of Cumberland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirley was born on September 18, 1941, in Hartville. She is the daughter of the late Raymond M. and Dorothy (Wisenbarger) Stevens. Shirley enjoyed a fulfilling career as an administrative assistant at the former Seminole Tubular before her retirement. A dedicated member of her community, she volunteered with the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department and proudly served as one of its first EMTs. She also served two terms as the Mayor of Cumberland. Shirley was a passionate reader who found great joy in books, and she had a deep love for animals—especially her beloved cats, whom she cared for with devotion.
Shirley is survived by her daughter and son, Darla (Rick Snyder) Perkins and Rex (Kerri) Rhinehart; her son-in-law, Clifton Cardwell Jr.; her eight grandchildren, Ryan Perkins, Evan (Amber) Perkins, Clifton (Angel) Cardwell III, Erica (Christian) Kirkman, Nora Cardwell, Shelby Rhinehart, Sidney Rhinehart, Donnie Cardwell; her 16 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother, Donna (John) Pupos, Gary (Lydia) Stevens; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Marsha Cardwell, who passed away in December of 2016; her great-granddaughter, Olivia Perkins, who passed away in 2006; as well as her sister, Lovetta Bailey.
Visitations will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord, 63 West Main Street, New Concord, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM following visitations at the funeral home. Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service. Shirley will be laid to rest in Cumberland Cemetery.
