Shirley Joanne Mcintire

Shirley Joanne McIntire, 95, of Philo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at Highland Oaks Care Center in McConnelsville, Ohio. She was born on November 6, 1928, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Ralph Drake and Helen (Engle) Drake.

Joanne worked as a seamstress for many years and was a devoted member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church in Zanesville for over 40 years. She found joy in her community and was an active member of the Twin Cities Garden Club, the Wide Awake Sunday School Group, and the Strong Family Sunday School. Additionally, she was a former member of the Olive Branch Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Joanne loved singing with the Sweet Adelines, where her passion for music shone through. She also wrote many hymns, created beautiful floral arrangements for her church, and found happiness in projects around her home and garden.

Joanne’s love for nature was evident in her fondness for birdwatching, especially cardinals and hummingbirds. Above all, Joanne cherished her family, expressing her love for them “To the ends of the Earth.”

She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Sandy) and Gary; her daughter-in-law, Virginia; her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her siblings Martha “Polly,” and Ralph (Shirley); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clyde, who passed away in 1998; her son, Michael; her daughter-in-law, Connie; two sisters, Katherine “Kate” (William) and Nadine (Edwin) and two brothers, Allan (Margaret), and Thomas.

Visitation will be 11 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral services will follow immediately after, with Pastor John Exman officiating. Joanne will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
