Sherry Brooks, 73, of Blue Rock, passed away on March 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous eight year battle with cancer.
Sherry was born on April 25, 1950, in Zanesville to the late Roy and Grace (Hart) Harmon.
Sherry graduated from Philo High School in 1968 and from the Muskingum Vocational School LPN Program in 1973.
She thoroughly enjoyed her nursing career at Bethesda Hospital from 1973 to 1987, and with Dr. Goodarzi, Dr. Groux, Dr. Wehrum, and Dr. Swan from 1987 to 2013. Sherry truly felt that taking care of people was her life’s mission. She was a member of the Gaysport Methodist Church.
Sherry married her husband, Russell Brooks, on May 9, 1981.
Left to cherish her memories are; her husband; her daughter, Angela Carder (Gary James); her grandson, Wyatt Carder; her sister, Susan (John) Winters; her brothers, Wally (Kim) Harmon and Jeff (Andrea) Harmon; her brother-in-law, Harold (Joyce) Brooks; her sister-in-law, Karen (Ken) Napier; additionally, she leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Chad Cox, who passed away in 2008; her maternal and paternal grandparents, Wallace and Martha Hart and Dan and Lula Harmon; and her parents-in-law, Russell and Olivett Brooks.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sherry’s memory to Eastside Community Ministry or to Samaritan’s Purse.
Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours for Sherry 5 to 8 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Pastor Lisa Jenkins will officiate the service. Sherry will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
