Shelby Willow Taylor Diaz, 85, of Duncan Falls, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House.
Born on May 27, 1939, in Matoka, West Virginia, to William and Ila Taylor, Shelby led a full and vibrant life. She worked for many years as a nurse’s aide and also as a bartender. Shelby was an active member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary in Waynesville, MO. She enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. A lover of travel and bowling, she graduated from Philo High School in 1957.
Shelby is survived by her two brothers, Quincy (Sandy) Taylor and Ray (Ruth Ann) Taylor; two sisters, Barbara Dodd and Sharon Locke; seven stepchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jose’ F. Diaz, who passed on August 11, 2011; her brother, Larry Taylor; and her sister, Norma Rowland.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls. A funeral service, officiated by her nephew, Pastor Dave Albert, will follow at 2:00 PM. Shelby will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
