Russell E. McCall passed away on Tuesday, May 31st while in the care of Genesis Healthcare, he was 98 years old. He was born on February 20th, 1918 in New Concord to Earl Marshall and Mabel (Phillips) McCall. Russell was a lifetime area farmer, and loved working on his farm with his animals. He served in WWII for 5 years. He was a dedicated school board member for 48 years, was a member of the College Drive Presbyterian Church all of his life, and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Grange, as well as the Muskingum County Pomona Grange. He and his wife, Vivian, ran McCall’s Chicken House Restaurant for a number of years.
Russell is predeceased by his parents, as well as his sister, Ethelene Hanna, his Brother-in-law, Dennis Hanna, and a nephew, Larry Hanna. Russell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Vivian (Kelly) McCall; whom he married on December 24th, 1941. He also leaves to cherish his memory his nephews, Bill (Patti) Hanna, and Donald (Dolores) Hanna; as well as several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friends Ron and Marty Ball, Wayne and Susan Farris, and many other friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours for Russell on Saturday, June 4th at the College Drive Presbyterian church with calling hours starting at 10AM, services will be officiated by Keith Taylor and will start promptly at 11AM. Burial will follow at the New Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the College Drive Presbyterian Church, located at 2 W High St, New Concord, OH 43762.
