April 1, 1959 — February 17, 2021

Zanesville

Russell Dean James, 61, a lifelong resident of Zanesville passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at his home on Hemmers Lane on February 17, 2021 while under the care of his nephew Jason, his daughter Lexi, his wife Trish and Genesis Hospice.

Russ was born on April 1, 1959.  He is one of five sons and four daughters of the late Glenford L. and Gloria J. (Roberts) James.  He and his wife Trish, were co-owners of Russ James Contracting Inc. and Quality Rent-A-Fence LLC.  Russ was very proud of his children and their accomplishments, he loved them very much. He enjoyed listening to his music very loud, cooking, traveling, spending time with his nephew Jason rebuilding a vintage Dirt Bike, and spending time with his family and friends talking about ‘back in the day’.  Russ was also an animal lover and he and his wife owned 6 dogs, his favorites were Babydoll who preceded him in death and side kick Spud who was forever at his side.

Russ is survived by his wife of 12 years, Patricia (Duckett) James, whom he married March 28, 2009; his two children, Zachariah (Shoshanna) James and Alexandra James; his step-children, Dawn Signorelli and Stacy Mefford; his step-grandchildren, Calvin Jaymes, Sydney Mefford, Bradley Mefford, Alyssa Signorelli, Anthony Signorelli and Angelo Signorelli; five brothers, Keith (Melissa) James, Dan (Tina) James, Doug (Bev) James, and John (Jill) James; and three sisters, Glenna (Mark) Everett, Gloria (Tim) Dalessandri, and Lora (Mike) Tilton- Wisecarver, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Russ is preceded in death by his sister, Pamela McDole.

Russ wanted to tell everyone that helped him, came to see him, sent him their love, thoughts and prayers “Thank You it meant the world to him. He loves you and wanted you to know “He’ll see you on the other side”

His dream was to someday live in the Florida Keys so as per his wishes his ashes will be scattered in the ocean off the furthest south point in Key West.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Russ’ name to either The Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Rd, Zanesville; The Salvation Army, 515 Putnam Ave, Zanesville; or to Christ Table, 28 S 6th St, Zanesville, OH 43701.
