Roy A. Smith

Roy A. Smith, 73 of New Concord, went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2022 at Cambridge Place.

Roy was born on January 9, 1949 in Zanesville. He is the son of the late Jerre and Mildred (McFee) Smith.  Roy retired in 2013 from ODOT where he worked as a machinist.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and tending to his garden.  He proudly served his county in the US Army, during the Vietnam conflict.

Roy is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda (Wells) Stanfield Smith, whom he married April 21, 2006; his four step-sons, Scott (Sharon) Stanfield, James “Craig” (Jennifer) Stanfield, Mark (Leslie) Stanfield, and Joseph (Jaclyn) Stanfield; his step-grandchildren, Ashley, Tiffany, Coralyn, Annabelle, Gwendolen, Claire, and Quinn; his great grandchildren, Harrison, Ava, Mallory, and Mavis; his sister, Betty Dailey; his brother, Bill (Linda) Smith; his nieces and nephews, Cindi, Bill, Dana, Jeff, Lori, and Kathy; 17 great nieces and great nephews; and 12 great-great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by a niece, Melanie Flesher.

The Smith family would like to thank the Cambridge Place Assisted Living and Shrivers Hospice for the loving care they all showed to Roy.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Shrivers Hospice, 601 Underwood Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Visitations will be from 4-7 on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Farus Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street in New Concord, OH, where funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday on November 10th, 2022, with Pastor Tim Pollock officiating.  Roy will be laid to rest in Bloomfield Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council following the service.
