Ronald Smith

Ronald Russell Smith, 81, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Hospice of Central Ohio within Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio, with his loving wife and family members by his side.

Born June 17, 1944, in Zanesville, Ohio, Ron was the son of the late Herbert and Bernice (Thompson) Smith. He worked for AT&T assembling circuit boards until his retirement in the late 1990s. Ron had a passion for classic car restoration and loved spending time outdoors. He shared a special bond with his faithful dog, Oscar. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on carpentry projects around the house, and most of all, making memories with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda (Gibson) Smith, whom he married on June 29, 1968; his three daughters, Connie (Patrick) Murphy, Melissa Kaye (Nick) Atkinson, and Ashley Cain; his cherished grandchildren, Cameron Murphy, Paige Murphy, Caeleb Murphy, Patience Murphy, Autumn Atkinson, Brie Atkinson, Taylor Cain, Braden Cain, and Addison Cain; his sister, Bonnie Flowers; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, William Smith.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM with Pastor Terry Newman officiating. A caring cremation and burial will follow at a later date.
