Rodney L. Shook, "Spook", 61 of Blue Rock, passed away at the home of his mother on Monday, September 8, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rod was born April 15, 1953 in Zanesville the son of Dorothy (White) Shook of Blue Rock and the late Tom Shook. Rod graduated from Philo High School in 1971, he worked as an equipment operator for the Shelly and Sands Company as well as being the owner and operator of Shook Excavating; he was a Blue Rock Township Trustee for several years, he was a member of Anchor Lodge #283 F&AM, Olive Branch OES #251 and Zanesville Amrou Grotto and a life time member of the Operating Engineers #18. Rod was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and fish, he loved going to auctions with his wife and he loved his granddaughters who meant the world to him. In addition to his mother Dorothy, Rod is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Jean (McGee) Shook whom he married August 3, 1975; his four children Tiffany Confer, Tasha (Kevin McQuaide) Shook, Tyson (Katelyn) Shook and Trey (Stacy) Shook and his grandchildren Paige, Caglea, Cabryanna and Gracie. In addition to his father, Rod is preceded in death by his brother Steve Shook. The Shook family request that memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to Nationwide Children's Hospital, 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, OH 43205. Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday September 10, 2014 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 11am Thursday with Pastor Bill Abrams officiating.
