Robert “Rob” D. Rickeart, 59 of New Concord, passed away unexpectedly from a tragic work accident on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

He was born on December 30, 1966, in Zanesville. He is the son of the late Wayne and Patricia (McKee) Rickeart. He was a proud graduate of Tri-Valley Schools.

Rob began working part-time in construction at the age of sixteen, developing the strong work ethic and hands-on skills that would define his life. A year later, he began his career with the Longaberger Basket Company, where he worked for over twenty-five years as a basket weaver before advancing into management. Known as a true jack of all trades, Rob later returned to construction full-time after 2005, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the proud owner and operator of R & R Construction, where he worked alongside his son-in-law, Koltin.

An avid outdoorsman, Rob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling to Myrtle Beach. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching western movies and listening to rock music. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family and friends.

He especially cherished his three grandsons. Whatever adventures or mischief they found themselves in, he was always right there beside them — except when it came to changing diapers.

Rob is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, and together for thirty, Shannon D. (Williamson) Rickeart, whom he married on November 13, 1999; his two daughters, Mackenzie (Koltin) Olney and Madison Rickeart; his three grandsons, Kashtin, Asher, and Kaisyn Derick; his two sisters, Ruth Johnson and RaeJean Riley; his brother-in-law, Dusty Smith; his mother-in-law, Judi Smith; his special nephew and niece, Jamie and Shellie; his lifelong best friend, Greg; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including “Brother” Bob and Tom.

In addition to his parents, Rob is preceded in death by his brothers, Rick Rickeart and Randy Rickeart; brother-in-law, Dale Johnson; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his fathers-in-law, George T. Williamson and Richard E. Smith; and his brother-in-law, Shane Williamson.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the New Concord Fire Squad and Rescue Team for their efforts.

Visitations for Rob will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord. A funeral service will take place at 6 PM following visitations. Pastor John Cottrell will officiate the service. In keeping with Rob’s wishes, a caring cremation will follow.
