Robert "Bobby" L. Cooper

Robert “Bobby” L. Cooper, 68, of Zanesville, Ohio, fell asleep on April 9, 2025, at 1:04 pm, after a lengthy illness at the Genesis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born August 7, 1957, to the late Leonard H. Cooper and Mary F. (Norris) Cooper in Zanesville, Ohio. Bobby passed away, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and service.

He was preceded in death by Father Deacon Leonard H. Cooper, Brother David Cooper, Grandmother Harriet (Stanley) Cooper, Grandmother Helen E. (Singer) Norris, Grandfather Edgar L. Norris, Nephew Michael V. (Spike) McCoy, Brother-In-Law Harry “Junebug” Garland, Sister-In-Law, Curly L. Cooper, Several Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins.

He leaves to mourn mother Mary F. (Norris) Cooper, Wife of 36 years Roishell (Robinson) Cooper, Son Robert Goins, Step Daughter Larissa Lannan, Step Son Sean Lannan, Siblings Carmen R. (Dan) Taylor, Leonard L. (Cindy) Cooper, Vanessa L. (James) Booker, Sharon (Rob) Brown, Robin D. Garland, Joey A. (Jockette) Cooper, Aunt Sarah Cole, Uncle Fred, Aunt Josephine Gillard, Several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews & a host of friends and family.

Bobby had a passion for wrestling, fishing, and dancing, often bringing joy to others with his lively spirit. A gifted carpenter and builder. In 2010, he earned an associate’s degree in CADD/architectural engineering from Zane State College. He freely shared his skills and was always ready to help those in need. He was a lifelong member and Deacon of the Church of God and Saints of Christ. When his church opened a food pantry, he poured his time and craftsmanship into the remodeling, always stepping up to serve his community. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union No. 200, Zane State Student Representative, and Mason – Zanesville Chapter.

Visitations for Bobby will be held from 11 AM to 12 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Church of God and Saints of Christ, 516 Cliffwood Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. A funeral service for Bobby will be held at 12 PM following visitations at the Church. Elder Nathaniel Norris will officiate the service. Bobby will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
