Rita Jean (Englehart) St. Clair was called Home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 9, 2016; she was 91 years old. She was born October 1, 1925 in Zanesville, Ohio to Lela Clare (McNeal) and Clarence Nicholas Englehart. Rita graduated from St. Nicholas High School in 1943, and was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She and her husband owned and operated the St. Clair Market in Cumberland for ten years, she was the Postmaster of Chandlersville for five years, and retired from the USPS. She was a member of the Cumberland Homemakers, the Grange, and worked as a volunteer at the Wilds. Rita enjoyed square dancing, collecting coins, stamp collecting, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family.
She is predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Patricia Kinneer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Raymond St. Clair, her daughter, Jean Ann (Jim) Allen, and her son, Nicholas Ray (Amy) St. Clair. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Allen, David (Tracy) Allen, Scott (Caroline) Allen, Tammy (Kenny-deceased) Yates, Timothy St. Clair, and Theresa (Chad) Fluharty; 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Rita at the Farus Funeral Home of Cumberland on Friday, November 11 from 4 to 7PM. A service will follow at 7PM, with Pastor Jim Gibson officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 E Main St, Zanesville, OH at 10:30AM; with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Chandlersville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, 9711 E Pike Rd, Cambridge, OH 43725.
