Rick Davis

Richard A. Davis, 66, of Zanesville, passed away unexpectedly on December 6, 2021 at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room.

Rick was born on June 9, 1955 in Zanesville.  He is the son of Marilyn Ruth (Reese) Davis of Zanesville and the late Donald Richard Davis.  He was a 1973 graduate of Maysville High School.  Rick was a longtime employee with the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department.  He started in 1980 as a deputy, and retired as a Captain.  He then went on to work as the Director of Muskingum County Juvenile Court and later served as a bailiff for, his lifelong friend, Judge Kelly Cottrill at the Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.  Rick worked an honorable 38 years with Muskingum County.

Rick had two passions in life, his family and his firearms.  He enjoyed every minute spent with his grandchildren, drinks at Mark’s Café, lunch at Charlie’s Diner and time with all his friends at Briar Rabbit.  He loved his weekends with his girlfriend, Kathy Hatfield, who always put a smile on his face and kept his belly full.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his daughter, Lindsay (Jarret) Daniels, two amazing grandchildren, Jayce and Dayne Daniels; his sister, Diana Davis; his niece, Jenny Rose and family; his sisters-in-law, Tammy (Terry) Barker and Tawnya (Pete) Pinkerton and family; the entire Daniels family who took him like their own; and his longtime girlfriend, Kathy Hatfield and family.

In addition to his father, Rick is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Lynn Davis who passed away March 21, 2015.  Diana was the love of his life, and we are all sure she was waiting with open arms to embrace him again.

Visitations will be 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday. Pastor Dean Cole will officiate the service.
