Rex G. Thomas, 89, of Blue Rock, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2021, while surrounded by his family, and under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House. Rex was born on August 18, 1932 in Blue Rock. He is the son of the late Kirby and Edna (Dutro) Thomas. Rex worked as an analyst at the Ohio Ferro Alloy until it’s closing, and then would retire from Gould Manufacturing. He was a member and previously served as an Elder of the Rhema House of Worship, and he enjoyed farming, traveling to the Smokey Mountains and spending time at family gatherings. Rex proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war. Rex is survived by his wife, Sherry (Gamble) Thomas, who he married on December 10, 2004; his children, Tammy (Ron) Fitz and Jacala (Dean) Ryberg; his seven grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas, Jamie Thomas, Shannon Sines, Sara Wilson, Ryan Fitz, Austin Krause and Kyle Krause; and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, and his sister, Betty McBride.
In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Thomas, who passed away in 2003; his son, Jeffery Thomas; his daughter, Kimberly Krause; his siblings, Bobby Thomas, Jeannette Watkins, Lahoma Sweazy, and Charlotte Ribble. Visitations will be 3 to 7 pm on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday. Pastor Wes Kidwell will officiate the service. He will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery beside his first wife. Full Military Honors will be provided by George Selsam VFW Post #1058, American Legion Post #29, and the US Army Color Guard.
