New Concord
Phyllis Q. Oliver went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 29th while in the care of Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus; she was 95 years old. She was born May 1, 1920 in Darbyville, Ohio the daughter of the late Warren Davis and Edith Flegal Davis. She was a graduate of New Concord High School and Meredith Business College. She was formally employed by Guernsey Muskingum Electric Cooperative. She was a member of the Norwich United Methodist Church and she was active in the Norwich United Methodist Women. She enjoyed working with her flowers and in her vegetable garden, she had a love of music and enjoyed playing the piano and the organ, she also enjoyed reading Christian novels and she read her Bible every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Roy H. Oliver, whom she married on December 16, 1950; her step-sisters, Phlorris Davis, Lyllis Vancannon and her step-brother, Inglis Davis.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Don Madden of Zanesville, her granddaughter and her fiancée, Kelly Madden and Jason Bires, and her grandson and his fiancée Matt Madden and Ashley Ryan.
Friends and Family are welcome to attend calling hours for Phyllis at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, where services will be Saturday at 11 am with Pastor Mark Ballmer and Pastor Roger Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International, PO Box 3062, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
