Orval Ernest Shaffer

Orval Ernest Shaffer, 90, of Chandlersville passed away at the Morrison House on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 while in the loving presence of his family.  He was born on January 13, 1928 in Zanesville to Arthur and Aily (Marsh) Shaffer.  He loved farming and spending time with his family.  He attended Westwood Baptist Church, and was a factory worker for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Joan (Drushal) Shaffer, his daughter, Susan Rasor, son, Larry (Lynn) Shaffer, and son, Ed (Julie) Shaffer, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-granddaughters, and his sister, Edith Shaffer.  He is predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law, Robert Rasor, his brothers, Bernard and Carter Shaffer, and his sisters, Norma and Ruby Johnson.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours for Orval at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord on Friday, July 6th, 2018 from 2 to5pm.  Services will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at 12pm Noon with calling hours beginning 10am.  Pastor Mark Ballmer will officiate services, and burial will follow at St. Paul cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that  donations be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
